        COLUMBIA - Nora Sparkman Ambrose, wife of the late Richard Keane Ambrose, Sr., died September 14, 2010. Born December 11, 1912, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Sullivan and Frances Harrison Sparkman. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was employed by WIS and had retired from the University of South Carolina as an administrative assistant. She was a member of the Junior League of Columbia and a life-long member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

        Surviving are her son, Thorne S. Ambrose and his wife, Karen CourtneyAmbrose, of Simpsonville; daughter-in-law, Jan Sample Ambrose of Troutman, N.C.; grandchildren, Courtney, Maggie and Harrison Ambrose of Simpsonville, Brian Ambrose (Diane) of Denver, N.C., Barry Ambrose of Charlotte, N.C.; great-granddaughters, Dylan and Morgan; nieces and nephews, Dr. Thorne Sparkman (Marbon) of Radnor, Pa., Ellery SparkmanAldrich of Hendersonville, N.C., Frances Satterlee Alexander (Mason) of Charleston, Mary Satterlee Egglezos (James M.) of Columbia, Thorne Satterlee Martin of Spartanburg; numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Keane Ambrose, Jr.; brother, The Rev. Thorne Sparkman; sister, Frances Sparkman Satterlee.

        The family will visit with friends at the residence. A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Ambrose's life will be held in Averyt Hall at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on Sunday at 3 p.m. with a reception in the Stirling Room following the service. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, churchyard or restoration fund, 1100 Sumter St., Columbia, SC 29201.
